Attendance/Absences

  • Attendance

Children are required to attend school each day. A student may be excused for sickness, serious illness, death in the family, and recognized religious holidays. Written excuses are required upon return to school by the parent or doctor's note. The note should include the date of the absence, a reason, and a parent's signature. Each student is expected to make up all work that has been missed during an absence from school.

If a child is going to be absent or late to school, parents are requested to call the school nurse, Mrs. Beth Bakley, at 856-769-0855 ext. 1171 by 9:30 AM. If a student does not arrive at school, we want to be sure the child is safe at home. The school nurse will call the home if she does not hear from a parent by 9:30 AM. If you know in the evening that your child will not be in or will be late for a scheduled appointment, you may call then and leave a message on her voice mail.

The frequent absence and lateness of pupils from their classroom learning experiences not only disrupts the continuity of the instructional process but limits the ability of pupils to complete the prescribed curriculum requirements successfully.

Students are expected to be at school by 8:35 AM and will be marked tardy after that time. Parents must be present to sign a child in if they come in after 8:35 AM. Parents will be contacted when tardiness becomes excessive (more than 4 times in a marking period).
